How do I prepare for my baby's arrival?

by Kimberly Schoobaar on December 26, 2020

Congratulations! You are having a baby. The arrival of a baby is a miracle in itself. It is very exciting, especially for new mothers. Do you have no idea where to start? Don't worry, we will help you with that.

Before you can call yourself mom and dad, a lot still has to be done. From finances to the nursery.

Suitable living space

After the birth of your baby, the baby can lie in a crib next to your bed. But at some point the child would need a changing table and a playpen. Of course you must have enough space for that. It is therefore also nice if you have a separate room for your baby. There you can store all your baby things and you don't have any unnecessary mess in the house. Make it home baby proof is.

The Nursery

The nursery. Which we all look forward to from the moment you know you're pregnant. There are many things that are essential for a nursery. Like a bed. What a good initiative for several beds in 1 it is Sebra bed. This bed grows with your child. This saves you extra costs for unnecessary beds. This bed is easily repairable. Playpen rugs are also a must. Your child can lie down and play on it playpen rug. It is made of 100% cotton and is therefore soft and comfortable. The rug can also be used as a play mat. What is also very nice for your little one is one Meyco baby blanket. This blanket is knitted making it very soft and comfortable. The blanket consists of two layers. He also matched with it playpen rug. How nice is that!

You need a lot of things to take care of your baby. But that costs a lot of money. Therefore, make sure that you have drawn up a good budget so that you do not spend money unnecessarily. I'm going to list what you need:

The nursery:

For in bed:

  • Nursing pads
  • Nursing bra
  • Flask + bottles to put in the milk
  • Nipple ointment
  • Nursing pillow
  • covers for nursing pillow

For when you go out:

For at home:

For on the road:

  • Car seat
  • Pram
  • Changing mat
  • Baby carrier / cloth

The bag / suitcase for the hospital

Of course there will come a time when you have to go into labor. And 9 times out of 10, that is not on the due date. It is therefore useful to pack a 'flight bag' a few weeks in advance. In this bag you put everything you need before and after the delivery if you are still in hospital. Here's a handy list of the musts.

  • Maxi-cosi to take your baby back in the car.
  • Diaper packs
  • Socks
  • shirt
  • pants
  • Jacket
  • Hat (also in summer!)
  • Wrap blanket
  • Romper
  • Wallet
  • Birth plan
  • Hospital punch ticket
  • Toiletries
  • Clothes to give birth (we recommend old clothes)
  • Pajamas
  • Slippers or slippers
  • Possibly an ipad, books or music.

The baby is here

Once the baby arrives, most of it goes without saying. If you don't know something, it doesn't matter, because nobody was born with all the knowledge of the world. Trust your mother's instinct. Don't be afraid to ask the people around you. Enjoy it because before you know it your little baby will be a toddler again.
